Jacob Wrestling With The Angel, c.1905 — Odilon Redon — In Public Domain

How do I now shred words? Skew my pensive
Ardent balance with an ur-forged sword, heaved
Rapidly two-fisted and offensive
Vying unreasoned, unjust and bereaved?
Esteem glows gold in stone cool castle halls;
Yet, the sun’s tongue hums too faint and the moon’s

Jewelled lips rest hyphen flat as hush drawls

Ocean deep and I bellow for harpoons.
By the river ford Jacob wrestled for
Each face of dear Isaac dimmed since a tyke.
Repeating waves pressing the salty shore
Melt stone to caverns ripe to explore like
A melon solemn bomb ready to burst
Nectar rich kindling this lamenting thirst.

An acrostic written for my father after he passed away.
